In 2020, I started to answer the question with a weekly Substack newsletter. Since then, White Crate has published nearly 1,000 reviews, interviewed dozens of artists, and shared weekly show recommendations with newsroom-level consistency and a distinct voice reflecting our love of music.

Five years later—with 7,500+ Instagram followers, a loyal Substack subscriber base, and quarterly events—White Crate has become what KQED calls an indispensable resource for Bay Area music fans.
